Managing billing#

This page explains how to manage your Lambda Cloud billing and provides guidance for troubleshooting billing issues.

Setting up billing#

Before you can launch Lambda Cloud services, you must visit the Settings > Billing page in the Lambda Cloud console and add a credit card to your account. Lambda makes a $10 pre-authorization charge to make sure the card is valid. The charge will be refunded in a few days.

Paying an open invoice#

To pay an open invoice, visit the Settings > Billing page in the Lambda Cloud console, scroll to the Payment History section, and then click Pay open invoice to open the payment page.

Note

If you don't have any open invoices, the Pay open invoice button does not appear.

Monitoring your costs#

You can monitor the cost of your Lambda Cloud resource usage by visiting the Usage page in the Lambda Cloud console.

Updating your billing information#

To update your billing information, such as your payment method and billing address, visit the Settings > Billing page in the Lambda Cloud console.

Viewing your payment history#

To view your payment history, including past invoices and payment status, visit the Settings > Billing page in the Lambda Cloud console and scroll to the Payment History section.

Troubleshooting billing issues#

My card is being declined#

Common reasons that card transactions are declined:

  • You're using a prepaid card or debit card.
Lambda only accepts major credit cards.
  • You attempted the transaction while connected to a VPN.
Purchases made while using a VPN are flagged as suspicious.
  • Your card issuer is denying our pre-authorization charge.
We make a $10 pre-authorization charge to a card before accepting it for payment. If the card issuer denies the pre-authorization charge, then we can't accept the card for payment.
  • You've entered the wrong CVV or ZIP code.
Transactions won't go through if these details are incorrect.

Purchases from your country might also be unsupported at the moment. Currently, Lambda only supports purchases from the following regions:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Chile
  • Iceland
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Saudi Arabia
  • South Africa
  • Israel
  • Taiwan
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • United Kingdom
  • Switzerland
  • European Union (except for Romania)

I'm being prompted to update my billing information#

Lambda upgraded its billing system in October of 2025. The new system has different requirements than the previous system and might request additional details if your billing information doesn't currently provide them.

I didn't receive an invoice this week#

If you didn't use any Lambda resources in the last week, you won't receive an invoice. If you did use Lambda resources in a given week but did not receive an invoice, reach out to the Support team.

I received two invoices this week#

When Lambda migrated to a new billing system in October of 2025, a small set of accounts on mid-week billing cycles received two invoices for that week. These invoices represented distinct billing periods and had no overlap between them.
